Getting Started with AMFA Manager
AMFA World, Leagues, and Money
The AMFA World
AMFA Manager is a virtual football world. All the players and teams in the game are fictitious.
Every effort has been made to make the world appear realistic, although there are certain idiosyncrasies that exist.
One of these is that managers are also owners, and they are therefore responsible for buying their clubs, players, and the whole financial side of running their club.
Because you own the club, you may also sell it to another manager, and buy another (you may only own one club at a time).
The league pays teams gate receipts, according to the size of the stadium and gives out prize money to successful teams in certain competitions.
In turn, the league collects match costs and wages from teams for their playing staff, and this is re-distributed in the payments detailed above.
League & Non-League
As manager of a league team, you are responsible for paying player's wages, transfers fees, as well as any ground improvements, and any other costs invoked.
Non-league players play for free, and owners pay nothing for their clubs. Manager's may improve their ground or make transfers, but the essence is that this is an amateur league.
Teams playing in the non-league can gain promotion to the big leagues by finishing at the top of the division.
There is also a cup competition that allows some non-league players to pit their wits against their league counterparts.
There is no set fixture list for the non-leagues. Managers must arrange all matches themselves, and may play up to 3 matches per round.
However, the scoring system set-up is designed to make the competition fair, and give all managers an equal chance (for details of the scoring system see the Rules page).
The Non-League is an excellent place to learn the game if you are unsure, or not confident of playing against the big-boys.
Money
AMFA has its own currency, the exchange rate between GBP and this is displayed at all times on the main homepage. Managers may upload money to be spent within the game.
The withdrawal rate is also displayed. The difference between the two rates is due to the need to cover our costs involved in paying in, and taking out money.
This rate is fixed, but may be changed to reflect changes in administration costs.
Once a team has been purchased, there is no obligation to upload any further money. If necessary, your account will go overdrawn in order to pay the clubs wage bill. You will need to keep this under control however, and generally keep your club in credit to survive as manager.
