Rules of the Game for AMFA Manager
Users and Accounts
There is a strict limit of only one team per user, and users may only register once using one email address.
Keeping your account active
To keep your account active, you must log in at least once a month. Managers inactive in the last 2 weeks will be placed On Holiday to allow others managers to schedule fixtures with them. Managers set as On Holiday will accept any request for a match.
Finances
Your account must be in credit or a Nochex payment have been made (within the last 30 days) at the end of each calendar month.
Failure to meet either criteria for 3 months in a row will mean you will be resigned from your team.
Managers with a negative balance cannot sign players from another team, but may sign unattached players for free.
Those with over £100,000 worth of debt may also have some restrictions on the amount they may offer players in wages.
Wages are taken out of each manager's account at the beginning of every round during the regular season.
When players or teams are bought, 10% of the fee is taken by the AMFA to represent agent's fees. Free transfers have no such fees.
Matches
Match costs
Match costs are applicable to all league and cup matches. The cost for a home match is £15,000 and for away matches it is £7,500.
However, for any matches that are scheduled to be played (i.e. a date is set) either against a human or computer opponent, AMFA will refund this fee.
Derby matches
Teams are from different geographical regions, which create local rivalries that may affect your players' performance in matches between the two.
Teams
Changing team names
Team names may be changed at the end of each season, however we may insist upon keeping part of the original name in the title, particularly for clubs with a long history. There is more freedom to change newer, non-league clubs. Requests must be submitted via email.
Changing team kits
Team kits can be changed at the end of each season via the team pages. We also allow stadium names to be changed, which would need to be submitted via email.
Promotion from non-league to league
As a non-league manager when you gain promotion all players in your squad will be automatically given professional contracts at the end of the season, with a standard wage (of £100 per week).
Relegation from league to non-league
As a league manager, if you are relegated to the non-league all your player contracts will be replaced by non-league ones (paying no wage). You may need to offer new contracts to players in order to ensure their ‘protected’ clause is set (see below).
Players
The maximum squad size is 50 players. You must also have enough fit players to play in each match (including at least one recognised Goalkeeper). Failure to do this will result in a cost to you imposed by the league to cover the cost of registering this youth player. This amount will vary according to the level at which the team plays. For example, Premier League players will cost more to register than a lower division player.
Free Players and Contracts
Players not attached to clubs can be signed on free transfers. Any players released from their contracts will become available to other managers in this way.
Once a player's contact expires he will automatically be released from the club.
Protected and Unprotected Contracts
Non-league players have the additional ‘protected’ clause in their contract. Any unprotected player can be approached by another team and may potentially sign for that club. Protected players will remain at their club until their contract expires or they are released.
Transfer Dealings
Users may not deliberately release players, coerce or encourage other users into releasing players either for the benefit of a club other than their own, or the detriment of a particular club, or to bypass any transfer fees.
Player Values
Players' values are based on their previous appearances, and at what level they were played at. Therefore, in general, Division 1 players are more likely to be worth more than those in Division 5.
Player Retirement
Players will typically play until around the age of 34 before contemplating retirement. After that it depends on fitness, and playing time as to how long they will go on for.
Player Attributes
At the end of each season player's abilities may improve or deteriorate according to pre-defined values.
Non-league
The Non-League scoring system is as follows:
In addition to the standard 3pts for a win, and 1 for a draw, the past 6 games played by your opponent will have a massive impact upon how many points you score.
The system will only consider results against teams once in the set of 6. So losing to a team that has lost 6 times to the same team, will not be considered as bad as losing to one which has lost to 6 different teams in that period.
The same is true of beating a team which has beaten the same team 6 times in a row previously.
Therefore, picking on the smaller team consistently will not be rewarded. Avoiding the best teams is also a dangerous policy as a win against a team with a good record could see you climb the league rapidly.
A win gives: 3pts for every game that team has won, plus 1pt for every game they drew.
A draw: 1pt for every game that team won, -1pt for every game they lost.
A loss: -1pt for every game that team drew, -3pts for every game they lost.
General
Please note that there may be additional rules, conventions or workings of the game which apply but that are not listed on this page.
Any users involved in a breach of any of the above rules are liable to have their accounts deleted or suspended, and the consequences of their actions reversed within the game.
