MATCHhotels.com Cup Round 1: Belle Vue Rovers 6, Newhall Wizards 4

The 1st round MATCHhotels.com cup tie between Championship side Belle Vue Rovers and non-league Newhall Wizards at the Intake ground produced an absolute classic 10 goal thriller.
Newhall were dominant in the first half piling pressure on the Belle Vue defence from the first whistle, creating chance after chance as their more illustrious opponents struggled to keep pace. With a third of the game gone the Wizards were coasting to the next round and Roberts managed to send their visiting fans to heaven making the score 4-0 just before half time.
The second half began in much the same way as the first until, completely against the run of play, a mistake by Daniel Wells gifted the ball to Nathan Perry who capitalised to make it 4-1. This gave heart to the home side and with the score at 4-3 Belle Vue pushed on for the equalizer and completed the comeback via a Neuville rocket from 30 yards. Extra time began to look a certainty until the 89th minute when Leon Shuller rounded off his excellent performance with a fantastic effort from the edge of the area. The Wizards were now out for the count and were completely unable to stop the sixth and final goal scored by Jamie Taylor from a corner.
The final whistle sounded just seconds after the restart and so ended one of the greatest games to grace this or any other competition.
