Nicholas Jones and Harley Street Rangers claim League Cup with a comfortable win over KS Rangers

from MOTAD, 13th November 2008

KS Rangers and Harley Street Rangers arrived at the stadium with a confidence about them with both sides coming into the final on the back of superb league form. KSR kicked off but it took just 8 minutes for KSR's quarter-final hero Joey Cole to see red after a desperately high challenge which left the referee no option but to send him off. Des Long found Vaughan Millar with a cross after 31 mins, which he sent agonisingly wide and 3 minutes later HSR were ahead after a snappy counter-attacking move. Clemence's corner kick was headed clear by Bennarivo, who laid it off beautifully for the unmarked Marino to record his third goal of the competition.

The second came after Fuentes got his head on the end of a corner delivered by Varun Howard. Harley continued to dominate possession as efforts rained in on KSR keeper Thomas Christie and Howard recorded his second assist with a high accurate ball for Evans who duly converted the opportunity and put an end to KSR's hopes for glory in the competition this year.

Both sets of fans stayed until the celebrations were over and the teams were given a standing ovation as they came up to receive their awards.
